PLEASE WELCOME 2010!!!

I’m not sure how accurate that groundhog up in Pennsylvania, “Puxahoney Phil”, is at forecasting if we’ll have an early spring, but Boone Lake dwellers are already hearing a sign -- the sound of boats.  True enough the “honking” geese and other wildlife have been trying to announce something to us, but there is no better sign than the return of the fisherman and their boats. Although not yet in full force, some of the guys will wait no longer!

After an unusually cold, snowy, and long winter, an early spring only seems fair. Other than a vacation to Florida, the best place to “weather winter” has to be right here on Boone Lake.  The wildlife never leaves us -- the geese seem to no longer go south – and the blue herons and “cranes” are ever present. And you don’t have to “watch the waters” very long to spot a “kingfish” diving down to snatch a tasty morsel. But with that said, nothing can beat that first warm sunny day that makes you forget all about winter.

And while we’re not there yet, it won’t be long now. Sunny days and blue skies will soon be here…”hold on tight to your dreams”.

MEET THE BOONE LAKE CLEAN UP CREW

These guys worked almost every day through one of the coldest winters in memory to ensure the success of our “cut-pile-burn” campaign that gets rid of all the wood debris that was collected last year. This will pay great dividends when the water comes back up and floats anything not cleared from the shoreline. In fact, now is the perfect time to help our maintenance crew who worked all through one of our coldest winters in memory.

From left to right: Robbie Burnette, Joey Tester, David Biggs.

Make sure you clear your shoreline property of leaves and wood debris that was left stranded back in December when lake level suddenly raised from the heavy rainfall. When the water receded, it deposited lots of trash and wood debris. Anything left along the shoreline will be dispersed lake wide if not disposed of now. It is impossible for the crew to get to ever foot of the 130-mile long shoreline – they need our help. It’s good exercise and will make you feel good in lots of ways. Let’s roll!
