THANK YOU

So many great people help our Boone Lake Association. Listed below is just a few for which we like to say a special thanks. Send in your special person and we’ll be sure to acknowledge them in this space on our website.

Gerald Brown Marine……..last year a member donated a pontoon boat to BLA to be used for cleanup purposes. The boat needed lots of work before it could become part of the fleet. Gerald Brown came to our rescue by providing lots of time consuming labor and by fabricating special parts.  Gerald knows what Boone Lake means to all of NE TN and he is the kind of guy who likes to give something back. Gerald helps us at every opportunity for which we are immensely grateful.

Citadel Broadcasting took the lead in advertising our 10th Annual Boone lake Cleanup Day on May 16th. The great advertising brought out lots of participants and a record yield of over 61-tons of trash was turned in.  Bob Lawrence made it all possible by doing the following:

 Boone Lake Cleanup  05/02/09 - 05/15/09

WQUT ran 42 60s @ $150 each

WKOS ran 41 60s @ $75 each

WXSM ran 32 60s @ $50 each

WJCW ran 32 60s @ $50 each

WGOC ran 41 60s @ $25 each

The event was also listed on wqut.com and wkos.com for duration of promotion

Total promotional value provided:  $13,850.00

Jay’s Dock.  For many years, Don McCracken, owner and operator of Jay’s Dock has sponsored a cleanup boat on the Watauga leg of Boone. Don recognizes the value of BLA and what it does for the lake and his business and does his part to keep us on the water. The cleanup boat he sponsors carries the Jay’s logo to let everyone know how much he cares for Boone Lake.

Johnson Fencing .  Allen Johnson has his business on the bank of Beaver Creek on the Volunteer Parkway in Bristol. BLA ,working with Boone Watershed Partnership, has a major goal of bank stabilization along Beaver Creek. Allen has lots of footage fronting Beaver Creek and he has rip-rapped the entire length to ensure erosion is defeated. He has done it at his own cost. Hopefully, his efforts will be motivation for all business to follow his great example.

John Stevens.  John is a former police officer from Johnson City and a Gulf War I veteran and also a land developer on Boone Lake. After a recent illness, John has volunteered to join our cleanup crew  on the Wataug leg of Boone. BLA has prepared a cleanup boat for him and he can be spotted in the early mornings and late afternoons picking up the trash that comes down the Watauga River. What a great guy and Boone Lake Association member.
